Mrs Jacqui Brooks BA (QTS) Hons, MA, NPQH

Leadership Team - Head Teacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead. I have been the Head of New Reflexions’ school since its origin in September 2008 and I am immensely proud of the vibrant learning community which it has become. In the last few years I have been delighted to oversee the expansion of the school to include a primary provision alongside the enlarged secondary provision. My role involves the day to day running of the school, liaising with a vast range of professionals who support our students, as well as welcoming new referrals and teaching. My best days are when I get to do fun activities with our students, especially if they are a little bit competitive!

Ms Emme Wild BA (QTS) Hons, MEd

Leadership Team - Deputy Head Teacher, Pastoral Lead Originally from the UK, I have enjoyed the privilege of living and working in Australia for the past 23 years. Throughout my career in education, including many years teaching PE, I have remained committed to helping young people thrive academically, personally, and through their participation in sport. I am passionate about building students' confidence, encouraging respect for diversity, and fostering a strong sense of belonging. I believe that positive relationships are central to student wellbeing, enabling young people to feel safe, valued, and supported to achieve their potential. Outside of school, I enjoy keeping active, travelling, and exploring new places. I look forward to becoming part of The Henslow School community and contributing to its welcoming and inclusive ethos.

Mr Julian Cattley BA (HONS), PGCE

Leadership Team - Assistant Head, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, Exams Officer I find working at our school the very best experience of my education career. One of the key reasons for this is that we are part of a great team that has the opportunity to facilitate tangible, positive change for the young people we support. Stepping up to Deputy Head in 2024 has been both enjoyable and challenging as I develop and refine my skills as part of the leadership team and work to facilitate quality review and improvement. My other roles include Exams Officer, IT support, Music technology provision and teaching Computer Science.

Alongside my work at school I enjoy music, performing, directing and composing for various groups. I also like to get outdoors, where I particularly enjoy taking part in field archery (in the woods with a longbow, just like Robin Hood!).

Mrs Amanda Eastwood BSc PGCE

Teachers - Teacher of Maths & Duke of Edinburgh Manager I have been at New Reflexions since 2015. I teach Maths and as well as developing students’ skills, knowledge and confidence I try to make all my lessons fun and practical so that pupils learn to use their maths in the real world. I offer a wide range of qualifications so that all students can succeed whatever their level.

I am also the Duke of Edinburgh Manager and as such I ensure that all students who wish to complete their award have the opportunity to do so by facilitating physical development, skills improvements, expedition skills and volunteering opportunities.

Ms Clare Williams-Price BA (Hons) PGCE MA

Teachers - English Teacher I qualified as an English Teacher in 2006 and have taught in New Reflexions schools since 2008. I am passionate about teaching English, as I firmly believe proficiency in reading, writing and spoken language is pivotal to every child’s long-term success. I am also dedicated to broadening my students’ academic horizons, assisting pupils who have previously disengaged in education to achieve outstanding outcomes. In the school’s 2019 Ofsted report pupils’ achievement in English was described as a ‘key strength of the curriculum’ with many pupils making ‘significant’ progress and producing ‘detailed work to an exceptional standard,’ which illustrates my commitment to ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences.

On a more personal note, I love watching art-house films and am an aficionado of Gothic literature.

Mrs Ami Belshaw BSc Hons, MSc, PCGE.

Teachers - Teacher of Science Mrs Belshaw worked at the Telford Priory and Hillcrest School, Shifnal, prior to joining the Reflexions Care group at Fitzroy Academy and joining the Henslow team.

Mr Jonathan Penrose Assoc Dip Hosp, BA, PGCE, NPQSL

Teachers - Teacher of Food Technology and History My role at the Henslow School is the delivery of Food Technology. This subject plays an important part in the students' development towards healthy independence and their understanding of a diverse lifestyle and the world. Growing up in Australia I developed a passion for food from a young age and was inspired through my travels. I have a background in catering as well as teaching and have worked in an extensive range of roles and venues. I enjoy watching and sharing the students' pride in their work and especially allowing them to discover new culinary and creative experiences.

Mr Chris Thorley (BA in History and International Relations)

Teachers - Teacher of Science and Careers Learning can open so many doors for young people and inspire confidence and resilience. Science can help people see the world and understand what is around them.

I want students to enjoy their time in school and become curious. I hope by the time students leave school they will have had a broad range of experiences and be able to question what they see.

Mrs Rachael North, BMus (Hons), PGCE

Teachers - Teacher of Music and Performing Arts I have joined Henslow School as a teacher of Music, Performing Arts and BTEC. I have been a qualified teacher for over thirty years and worked in a wide variety of schools.

In addition to teaching, I have worked professionally as an actor/singer/musician performing in London’s West End, touring throughout the UK and Europe.

I aim to pass knowledge, love and enthusiasm for The Performing Arts onto pupils and help develop their confidence and self esteem, helping them unlock their potential to reach their own individual goals.

Mrs Diana Somers BA (Hons)

Teachers - Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages and HLTA I have a passion for foreign languages and qualified as a secondary MFL teacher in 2006.

I have taught children in both secondary and primary schools and enjoy seeing students discover new languages and skills.

Outside of the classroom I enjoy all sorts of sports and play the piano and guitar for fun. I started at The Henslow School in March 2025 and can't wait to support the students' language journey.

Mrs Jessie Jones-Butler BA (Hons) PGCE

Teachers - Teacher of Humanities After completing my degree in Modern History in 2015 I realised that I wanted to work with young people and so I completed my PGCE in 2017. Most of my experience is working with young people with additional needs in a variety of settings.

I enjoy teaching the Humanities as I know I am raising awareness of global issues and diversity, something which I think is crucial in today's society.

I enjoy spending time in the countryside with my daughter, husband and two dogs. I also own two horses who take up most of my spare time!

Moez Azouzi, B.Ed. (Hons), PGCE, MA

Teachers - Physical Education and Maths I am pleased to have joined Henslow Secondary School as a PE and Maths Teacher. I enjoy working with young people and helping them build confidence, develop resilience and recognise their own strengths. For me, good relationships are at the heart of teaching, and I believe that creating a calm, supportive environment can make a real difference to a student’s learning and wellbeing.
In my free time, I enjoy being active, particularly through fitness, hiking and other sports. I am looking forward to getting to know the students and staff at Henslow School and being part of a school community that supports young people to make progress and feel valued.

Miss Julie Griffiths

Support Staff and Tutors - Henslow School Administrator I was born 5 miles from Henslow School and apart from attending Chester College, have lived in Shropshire all my life. I have a passion for all sports and the outdoor life. I taught PE in Bishops Castle for 30 years and whilst there developed an interest in special educational needs. Prior to joining Reflexions Education, I worked for the local authority, in the SEN team, maintaining the EHCPs of vulnerable children. These days I tend to watch more sport than I play, but still love being outside, whether on home maintenance, cycling or walking. My other great love is travelling the world and tasting new foods, then attempting to replicate them in my own kitchen. I am delighted to be the school administrator.

Mr Sean Howells

Support Staff and Tutors - Art and PSHE Tutor I have been with the school since 2012 and really enjoy the job I do. Amongst a variety of responsibilities I teach Art at the School, enabling students to explore their creative side and PSHE.
I really appreciate the positive atmosphere of the school and the variety of my duties. Every young person brings something different to the school which makes every day interesting and enlightening.

I am also a Child Exploitation and Online Safety (CEOP) ambassador and deliver sessions to students and staff to ensure we keep up to date with the technological world and use it safely.

Mr Chris Tranter

Support Staff and Tutors - Tutor of BTEC Vocational Qualification and Mountain Bike Instructor I have worked at the school since September 2013, progressing from a HLTA to Tutor, bringing experience from various different care sectors. On a day to day basis you might see me doing a wide variety of tasks ranging from teaching Vocational BTEC sessions, delivering one to one sessions, or taking students mountain biking in the local area. I believe the ability to offer a wide ranging but personalised curriculum is a strength seen every day across the school.

Mr Richard Phipps

Support Staff and Tutors - Higher Level Teaching Assistant Joining the Henslow School in March 2021, I am a fully qualified English teacher with extensive secondary level teaching experience since 2012. As an HLTA, I provide support to both students and teachers, encourage a positive and welcoming environment, and deliver a style of education that promotes learning through engagement and challenge.

I believe that the young people of today are the pillars of society for tomorrow and my driving passion is to help them fulfil this potential and feel pride in the person they are becoming.

Ms Donna Partridge

Support Staff and Tutors - Higher Level Teaching Assistant I joined The Henslow School as a higher level teaching assistant having worked in education in various roles for over twenty years within Shropshire. In my free time I enjoy crafting, reading and being out in the countryside. I like to visit new places and spend the school holidays travelling.

Mrs Dawn Williams

Support Staff and Tutors - Teaching Assistant I started working in hospitality, but changed my focus once all my children were in school.

I have always wanted to work with children and help them with their education, so I started the training to become a Teaching Assistant, whilst working in a primary school. Once qualified I was offered a job working with pupils from Reception up to Year 6 both in he classroom and working one to one with vulnerable pupils.

After a brief spell back in hospitality, I have now returned to my passion as a teaching assistant.

When at home I enjoy making my own greetings cards and spending time with my children and grandchild.

Mr Paul Crowsley

Support Staff and Tutors - Teaching Assistant I come from a construction background being a qualified carpenter and joiner. I started teaching construction to young adults and apprentices a few years ago, which sparked an interest in education.

My hobbies include anything outdoors such as canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, mountaineering and caving. My position as T.A. at Henslow School allows me to pass on my enjoyment and inspire others to challenge themselves in the outdoor environment.

Mr Tom Zimmermann

Support Staff and Tutors - Learning Support Learning can be a transformative force that empowers people to critically question structures. For me, learning is not merely the accumulation of knowledge but the development of a strong, self determined consciousness that enables participation and fosters emancipation. I wish students to have opportunities where they can be equipped with initiative to analyse and shape the world critically based on people’s needs.
Studying History and German Language send me on a journey through various educational settings. I like everything that tells a story like books and videogames, working outdoors or in my workshop.

Ms Anna Davies

Support Staff and Tutors - Teaching Assistant I have predominantly worked in health and social care and for the last 15 years, progressing from a support worker to registered care manager.
I have always wanted to work with young people and am keen to learn more from as educational perspective.
I am extremely passionate about helping young people, even more so since my son was diagnosed with autism. Advocating for him an ensuring he has the same opportunities as everyone else has made me want to do this for others.
