  • Song Lab Performance, Birmingham

    Key Stage 3 students were involved in workshops in school in the Autumn Term. Those who were keen to develop their interests in music production were able to progress this by participating in an event in Birmingham. Kiesha, Faith, Tyler, Warren and Jack all had fun using the hi tech equipment to produce their own composition.   • Review and Project Days

    Mid way through the academic year each student has a review with their teaching staff and support agencies, who contribute to the feedback event for parents and carers. When they were not in their review, students were challenged to try out new activities such as Taiko Drumming and Bushcraft. The Bushcraft session took place at Nesscliffe enabling students to build emergency shelters and light fires, then cook marshmallows. The drumming was a brilliant way to release any excess energy.

  • Henslow School Pantomime

    What a performance! This half term has seen excitement levels rise as the projects groups in KS3, ably directed by Arts Award student Alicia, create their first production: ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. The group have developed their skills from creative thinking to finding the best ways to work as a team. Their effort has led to developing a short pantomime to entertain the whole school on the last day.

  • Autumn Term PE lessons

    The whole school took part in lessons at Telford Dry Ski Slope during September and October. All students had the chance to take a UK Snowlife Ski Award. For some students it was their first time putting on ski boots and venturing out, for some they were able to enjoy showing off their skills from the top of the slope. 3 students, Alicia, Lee and Jack practiced hard and gained a level 5 award, 4 students gained a level 4, with Tyler making 3 levels of progress and 3 students achieved level 3.

  • Stratford Visit

    To support their studies in English, Key Stage 3 students Tom, Dylan, Kiesha and Tyler visited Stratford and the the Holy Trinity Church, to see the  birthplace and burial site of England's most famous bard, William Shakespeare.

  • Outdoor Education

    Selected students have a weekly session with Safe and Sound to develop their personal skills through adventurous activities. In these photos students are taking part in Bushcraft, Kayaking on Lake Vyrnwy, Mountain Biking and Map Reading in Church Stretton.

  • Christmas Tree Festival at St Chad's Church

    The Henslow School joined the Festival of Trees in St Chad's Church, Shrewsbury. Students sponsored a tree and spent time decorating it, in order to showcase the rich variety of lessons that take place in school. The Evolution School pupils visited the site and enjoyed searching for the Henslow Tree amongst the galleries and aisles. It is an uplifting way to celebrate the end of term and start of the Christmas festivities.

  • Careers Day

    All students participated in a Careers Focus day in November. Older students spent the morning considering their options on leaving school, learning that they must then do one of the following until turning 18: stay in full-time education , for example at a college. Start an apprenticeship or traineeship . Spend 20 hours or more a week working or volunteering, while in part-time education or training.

  • Anti-Bullying Week

    To raise awareness of the message for the week, students and staff wore odd socks, passed on kind words to each other and designed posters. Shopping vouchers were handed out for Random Acts of Kindness. In Personal Skills students were asked to consider what 'kindness' meant to them and asked how could they do nice things without expecting anything in return.
