The School Day

The school day here at The Fitzroy Academy consists of formal lessons in the mornings delivering learning specific to each pupils personalised curriculum. Afternoon sessions are used for a range of functional and practical activities, and topic-based learning. These sessions include swimming, community participation, mini-enterprise and opportunities to develop life skills and social interaction skills in different environments.

12.30 - 13.10 Lunch time
13.10 - 14.10 Lesson 5 - topic-based learning/community participation
14.10 - 15.15 Lesson 6 - topic-based learning/community participation
15.15 - 15.30 Reflection Time

 

The timetable may look different for individual students and in the classes that follow specific curriculums. The Fitzroy Academy operates a five-day teaching week. Curriculum planning for the academic year is based on the standard thirty-nine-week cycle and weekly timetable of 26 learning hours. The school adheres closely to the Shropshire Local Authority’s school holidays with five INSET days across the year.
