Teacher of Maths & Duke of Edinburgh Manager

Mrs Amanda Eastwood BSc PGCE

I have been at New Reflexions since 2015. I teach Maths and as well as developing students’ skills, knowledge and confidence I try to make all my lessons fun and practical so that pupils learn to use their maths in the real world. I offer a wide range of qualifications so that all students can succeed whatever their level.

I am also the Duke of Edinburgh Manager and as such I ensure that all students who wish to complete their award have the opportunity to do so by facilitating physical development, skills improvements, expedition skills and volunteering opportunities.

Ms Clare Price BA (Hons) PGCE MA
English Teacher

Ms Clare Price BA (Hons) PGCE MA

I qualified as an English Teacher in 2006 and have taught in New Reflexions schools since 2008. I am passionate about teaching English, as I firmly believe proficiency in reading, writing and spoken language is pivotal to every child’s long-term success. I am also dedicated to broadening my students’ academic horizons, assisting pupils who have previously disengaged in education to achieve outstanding outcomes. In the school’s 2019 Ofsted report pupils’ achievement in English was described as a ‘key strength of the curriculum’ with many pupils making ‘significant’ progress and producing ‘detailed work to an exceptional standard,’ which illustrates my commitment to ensuring high-quality teaching and learning experiences.

On a more personal note, I love watching art-house films and am an aficionado of Gothic literature.

Mr Jonathan Penrose Assoc Dip Hosp, BA, PGCE, NPQSL

My role at the Henslow School is the delivery of Food Technology and History. These subjects play an important part in the students' development towards healthy independence and their understanding of a diverse lifestyle and the world. Growing up in Australia I developed a passion for food from a young age and was inspired through my travels. I have a background in catering as well as teaching and have worked in an extensive range of roles and venues. I enjoy watching and sharing the students' pride in their work and especially allowing them to discover new culinary and creative experiences.

Mr Julian Cattley BA (Hons), PGCE
Teacher of Computing and Arts Award

Mr Julian Cattley BA (Hons), PGCE

We experience music in many different aspects of our daily lives and in turn many of the aspects of our daily lives are explained as part of the study of geography. I have a passion for teaching both of these subjects and much more besides. I look to encourage positivity, creativity and enthusiasm as part of the learning experience, allowing young people to explore their ideas and reach their full potential.

Ms Vicky Gould (BSc Sport & Exercise Science, MA Physical Education)

Ms Vicky Gould (BSc Sport & Exercise Science, MA Physical Education)

My specialism is Sport Science and I teach PE, Maths and Science. I have over 10 years experience in a wide array of educational and residential settings. I love the way learning can inspire young people and give them the confidence to try new things. It is because of this that I try to make all lessons apply to the world outside the classroom and have a bit of fun along the way!

Miss Sally Davies (BA (Hons) PGCE)
Humanities Teacher

Miss Sally Davies (BA (Hons) PGCE)

I have enjoyed gaining teaching experience in a variety of settings since 2010. My main areas of subject specialism are English and Humanities. I joined the school to support an individual student to settle in and develop access to lessons with peers and subject specialist teachers. I am looking forward to focusing on a holistic approach to learning in an environment that caters to student’s individual needs.

Mr Chris Thorley
Teacher of Science and Careers

Mr Chris Thorley

Learning can open so many doors for young people and inspire confidence and resilience. Science can help people see the world and understand what is around them.

I want students to enjoy their time in school and become curious. I hope by the time students leave school they will have had a broad range of experiences and be able to question what they see.

Mrs Rachael North
